My Approach
Quality, Not Quantity
There is an abundance of information; however, quality information is few and far between. This is due in large part to the prevailing socioeconomic system that prioritizes productivity and makes the quantity of goods a key measure of wealth. Since people are focused on producing things fast and in large quantities, superficial and trivial information is piling up while it is becoming increasingly difficult to find quality information. Like fast food, hastily generated information is detrimental to our well-being. Unlike everyday essentials such as food and water, information does not need to be consumed constantly. What we truly need and yearn for is not more information per se but the kind of knowledge that provides deep insights into ourselves and the world and transforms our lives. For this reason, I will not write according to a schedule but write when I have valuable insights to share.
Open Access & Collective Enlightenment
The most absurd thing about our information space is that scholarly and educational information is the least accessible (e.g., the hefty paywalls of academic journals). Accordingly, shallow and ignorant ideas predominate in our information space. And the situation is getting worse since anyone can spread their ideas on the internet today. The main reason educational information tends to be inaccessible is that many academics and intellectuals do not fully realize the benefits of educating people and therefore do not make it a priority (hence no urgent call for change in academic publishing, for example). It is important to realize that collective enlightenment leads to vast improvement in everyone’s life and that those benefits far outweigh any benefits gained from maintaining the closed system (status, etc.).
I will make my content as openly accessible as financially feasible. If you appreciate my writing and want to support open intellectual exploration, please consider becoming a paid subscriber.
How I Came to Launch This Website
The inner world has always been a great fascination of mine. So I studied psychology at university and subsequently worked as a researcher in the field.
However, as an academic researcher, I had to focus on a very specific topic. Even though I was fortunate to study a subject I was interested in (thanks to a supportive supervisor), I gradually grew tired of it. I would often force myself to think about the subject, and the unnaturalness of thinking about the same narrow topic every day killed my enthusiasm over time.
Moreover, due to the “publish or perish” environment of academia, I felt pressured to find answers quickly. I was constantly in a hurried state and lacked the peaceful headspace needed for insights to come through. Even when I finished something, I did not get a sense of accomplishment but was left feeling uneasy about rushed and half-baked ideas in my writing. I became increasingly dissatisfied with the absurd environment where everyone was busy trying to publish papers which no one seemed to have time to read deeply, if at all.
So I was no longer enjoying the process of thinking nor the product and eventually got burnt out. I asked the university for the position of visiting scholar in order to think more freely and at my own pace. I did manual labor for a living and wondered about various things that spontaneously interested me in my spare time. I gradually learned to let my mind flow freely and run its natural course, which restored my curiosity and brought me many insights, including the answers to the questions with which I had wrestled for a long time. This journey led me to launch this website, to share my insights and continue exploring ideas freely and in my natural rhythm.
